November 2012 was the second warmest November on record with the mean monthly temperature of 19.4°C being above average by 1.3°C . The warmest November ever was in 1995 with a mean monthly temperature of 19.5°C
The mean monthly minimum temperature of 16.8°C was the warmest since temperature records began in 1987. In fact, it was higher than the average monthly minimum temperature by 1.7°C. The mean monthly maximum of 22.0°C was also above the average by 0.9°C.
The hottest day in November 2012 was on the 5th with a maximum of 26.4°C. The hottest November day ever recorded was of 28.9°C on 1st November 1990. The coldest night in November 2012 was of 12.8°C on the 26th. The coldest November night ever recorded was of 5.7°C on 23rd November 1995.
November 2012 was also much drier than average with the total monthly rainfall of 63.0mm being almost half the average of 110.2mm. This mainly fell on three days, namely the 16th, 19th and 30th of the month. Thunder was heard on five days and hail seen on two occasions. A number of funnel clouds and one waterspout were also seen off Bahar ic-Caghaq on the 17th.
The SSW was the most frequent wind direction with an average wind speed at Zebbug Malta of 7.9km/h. The strongest gust at Zebbug was of 64.8km/h on the last day of the month. A much stronger gust of 111.0km/h was registered at Mellieha on the same day at 10:10am.
